‘”Ideas for the Common Good” is the way that the Q Gathering describes its raison d’être. Each year hundreds of thoughtful, serious folk representing the spectrum of cultural responsibilities come together in cities across the country—Portland, OR in 2011, Washington, DC in 2012 –and spend several days listening and talking, praying and working, focused on the most important questions of life.
They attract contemplatives and activists, and as that is deep within our vision, we are stepping into an ongoing relationship with the Q folks. Sometimes speaking on our own vision, “Vocation as Integral,” sometimes writing about people and their vocations, sometimes helping to plan future events, we believe in their hope that conversations have consequences, that ideas have legs, and that gatherings like theirs are critical for developing generational awareness of who is doing what, and why it matters.
